Abstract
An ileal adenomyoma in a 8-month-old boy who presented with lieoileal intussusception is described. Adenomyoma of the small intestine is a very rare lesion. Histologically, the polypoid mass in the ileum was composed of cystically dilated
glandular
or
ductular structures lined by singe layered tall columnar to cuboidal epithelium, irregular smooth muscle bundles surrounding the glandular or ductular structures.
The rarity and pathogenesis of the adnomyoma of the small intestine and its problems of nomenclature are discussed on the background of the literatures.
